Message:

I'm having a problem using infrared to hot sync. When I set up my laptop and Palm V according to the instructions, the two devices recognize each other, however, they don't exchange data. They send pulses back and forth, but the data isn't sent. Any suggestions? Thanks

Post Subject: Fixed it

I'm the person who posted the original question. I fixed the problem. John R. at support@palm.com sent me a detailed message about how to get the Infrared port working. First of all, you have to have WINIR version 2, which you can get from Microsoft.com. Once you have that installed, you have to set the IR port on your desktop/laptop to the "virtual" IR port, not the actual com port that the IR is assigned to. The instructions are available as an Adobe Acrobat file from the Palm.com support site.

Post Subject: I can't find that PDF?

I'm having the same problem with my IR synch. However my error message is slightly different. I keep getting "the port is busy or in use by another program". In any sense I can't seem to find that PDF you were reffering to. Any direction/assistance you could provide would be appreciated.
