I am looking into basically what could be described as a local paging system to alert technicians when systems have developed failures. All systems and technicians would be in the same building. The distance would be as much as a mile at the most. I am looking for a solution that would allow me to send notifications to those technicians that the systems have failed...palm looks like the best option but the connection to the units is what I'm interested in. I could use pagers but then I could use palms with pagers so that I can expand in future...is there a local wireless technology out there for palms? Or would the paging system be the only way to cover an area of 1 mile?
