I am a happy owner of a Palm IIIx and want to use it with my computer at work. I am running Microsoft Outlook Express v 5.0 as my e-mail client, but I can not hotsync it to my Palm. Obviousy they are not completely compatible, because when I talked to the support they only said that they did have any support for Out Express v 5.0 ! I also sent an e-mail to Palm-support which has not been answered ! I find it strange that 3COM is not able to support the latest version of probably the most wide-spread e.mail client in the world. Does anyone know the solution to this problem ?

Subject: OE v5.0 and Hotsync

I was a happy owner of a Palm3x, until I discovered that it doesn't work with OE5.0 . You cannot make these two things work together, because the necessary changes in Outlook's settings (MAPI,...) are not possible. Does anyone have solution? (One would be to install IE5-browser only and leave OE4) Stefan PS: I am still a happy palm owner. But I am thinking of switching OS or mailprogram.

FWIW, I just downloaded IE5 and installed it (would not work with the IE5 beta I was using), and OE syncs up just fine.. with my Local inbox :-( Anyone have any ideas how to make it sync with my IMAP server's inbox? Thanks, Chris

I purchased a Palm IIIx yesterday and it is working with my Outlook Express 5.0 just fine. It sends and receives without any problems.

Subject: Does ANYONE have a Palm V that works?

Hi, At the time I started the thread about Palm V and Netscape (above) I hadn't tried Outlook. After going through a great deal of trouble (freeing disk space to add service pack 3 and downloading Outlook 5) I find that I can't do email with the Palm V through Outlook Express either! Is there anybody out there that uses the Palm V for email? I would LOVE to know how you're doing it...If outlook isn't "the most popular" mail utility, then outlook plus netscape must have a pretty good combined share of the market! I would have thought the 3com people would have tested their machine before marketing it... Maybe I've just done something silly in the setup? If I can get this to work without a patch, I'll apologize to 3com...heck, I'll advertise for 'em! - J
