I am ready to buy a PalmPilot but I have seen traces of a IIIx version that is to be released soon. So should I wait for this newer one or is it still too far away from release? Just wondering if anyone knows about this.

Post Subject: Depends on your budget.

It depends on your budget. Both the Palm IIIx and the Palm V should be released in about a week, but they'll be priced at around 369.00 and 459.00 respectively. (We'll have to see what the on-line price will be though) I doubt the III will go much lower than 199.00 and may even go up once the IIIx is released. People may start to realize they don't really know 24,000 names and phone numbers to store, and therefore why pay 170.00 more just for the ability to do so? However if you can afford the sticker shock, the Palm V has a much improved screen, backlight, and rechargeable batteries. If you count the savings in batteries, it should pay for itself in about 30 years. :)

Post Subject: your call

I just bought a palm iii on Friday, then found out that the iiix is release at the end of February. I bought mine at buy.com for $218 - the iiix is expected to sell for around $369. My understanding is that the iiix will contain 4mg RAM ( palm iii only has 2 ), a more clearer display screen ( reduces glare when outside ), and a bundled app to handle MS Outlook - Palm synchronization... so.... it is kinda your call.
